Baby, You’ve Probably Been the Villain This Whole Time

It is interesting how it came about—the connection with the villain era and our lore.
Ever notice when something tickles your fancy, people riding on the same frequency seem to pop up out of nowhere?
One could say it's magnetic.
And I know this sounds a bit paranoid, but the old me used to think someone tapped my energy and stole my idea—as if I had no spiritual wherewithal. Self-fulfilling prophecies rooted in insecurity made me fearful of my thoughts and ideas becoming saturated soil.
So, I abandoned many beautiful paths.
I watched others pick up the divine-given baby I put down and move forward with it. My ego desperately wanted to be the originator, but I learned later that there is no such thing—not forreal.
I may talk about it in more detail one day.
However, I acknowledge and recognize my growth with this villain exploration.
It was the first time I entered the proverbial group chat where everyone discussed the same topic in various ways and didn't feel insecure or need to exit the room.
Felt good to be in great company, so I sat down and got cozy.
The villain—a space I'd been searching for while also recognizing the collective is requesting insight here, so the time to lean in and learn arrived.
I also want to acknowledge if you have or have had know-it-all syndrome, it's perfectly fine to learn from others who explored a path that's new for you—regardless of age.
So…about what I uncovered.
As I sipped my Sunday tea, my mind began to wander about oppositions and squares, and like a light, a relatable concept became clear.
For context, in my natal chart, the current Pluto (Capricorn) transit has been squaring my natal Sun for the last twelve years and soon to be in opposition (Aquarius) for the next twenty. Without any astrology knowledge, oppositions and squares sound like a tense party. Most pop astrologers boast that squares and oppositions are detriments, agents of discord in your birth chart; however, I believe they offer growth opportunities.

And then it hit me.
I’ve been in my villain era all my life.
What does that mean?
Villains are born through adversity.
That discord in life sparks the passion to persevere and achieve beyond the odds placed against us. It's expected that we'll become a lower version of ourselves; however, we unknowingly use those squares and oppositions as fuel—the stepping stones of our core goal to be nothing like the person others thought we’d become.
The villain then becomes our space of transformation, and we hit those transformative phases in every stage of life in different ways, with new motivators.
My villain era began when my parents separated. Although my father made me believe he'd still be a part of my life, those words never turned into action. By the time he remarried on my 13th birthday, I’d already made it my business to never need him.
Interestingly enough, when you solidify that decision, you do it and move on. The task becomes subconscious. The universe is already conspiring with you at the onslaught of your heart’s desire and doesn't stop there.
As you become more rooted in your identity, sure of your voice, and clear of your path you'll meet others on the mediocrity train. Aggravated that you choose to go against the grain and not with it. An outlier, choosing to set a high bar that others wouldn't dare to reach. See, your villain era didn't just begin love—it evolved.
You didn't have the language to call it that.
Named bad guy because you chose not to follow the rules that never applied to you.
Villainous just for existing.
Though there may be transiting cosmic weather or energies in your birth chart that indicate a villain era, the goal is to push you toward evolution. To become the best version of yourself on this blueish-green rock and continue to choose the road less trotted. To exceed the expectations because the ones placed upon you were never yours.
When you become aware of resistance, step outside the chaos and determine the root. What is the cause, and what is it attempting to teach you? Not simple, of course, but I can attest it is something I'm learning to master each day. However, we are better for it when we recognize the lesson.
For research, here is some additional perspective on how we become the villain and insight into squares and oppositions.
Until next time.
